Summary

Summary :

The role of an HGV Technician is crucial in maintaining Powys diverse fleet ensuring compliance with the authoritys operators license. This position primarily focuses on heavy goods vehicles (HGV) light goods vehicles (LGV) and specialized vehicles while also addressing plant equipment within the fleet. The technician plays a vital role in supporting fleet operations ensuring vehicle safety and contributing to service efficiency and income maximisation.

Working hours

Monday-Thursday 08 : 00 - 16 : 00 Friday 08 : 00 - 15 : 30

There is also the opportunity for O / T

Responsibilities
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections on vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform servicing of vehicles and machinery.
  • Diagnose faults and prepare vehicles for MOT.
  • Replace parts as necessary.
  • Support the Fleet Operations Supervisor in delivering customer-focused inspection and maintenance services.
  • Provide out-of-hours service during winter and bank holidays.
  • Maintain compliance with legal requirements for the councils fleet.
  • Promote understanding and use of preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation using the online Fleet Management system.
  • Use specialist IT equipment for vehicle diagnosis and repairs.
  • Foster effective working relationships with staff customers and suppliers.
  • Provide data and analysis for proactive maintenance and best practices.
  • Stay informed on vehicle maintenance legislation and regulations.
  • Develop and apply Health & Safety processes in the workshop.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment.
  • Attend training programs and mentor apprentices.
