Job description

We are looking for a skilled HGV Technician / Mechanic to join our clients team near Croydon, London. This is a permanent position.

45 hours per week | 9 hours per day between 06:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday

£35,000 - £51,700 per year DOE.

The Person
  • NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance (or time served).
  • Proven experience in commercial vehicle repair and servicing.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with knowledge of electronics and hydraulics.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and use workshop IT systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and work overtime or on a callout rota when required.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and occasionally lifting heavy items.
The Role
  • Diagnose and repair faults on chassis and mounted equipment.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure compliance with Department of Transport specifications.
  • Carry out body and chassis repairs and complete all work to company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and enter job details into the DE computer systems.
  • Liaise with customers professionally and ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance.
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures and conduct risk assessments where required.
  • Support quality assurance processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
