HGV Highways Operative - Tavistock

Our clients are looking for a Highways Operative to join their hardworking dedicated team in Tavistock.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team undertaking Highways repairs, ranging from patching, resurfacing, potholes, drainage, footways and general highway maintenance.
• Use technology (tablets/apps) to input safety data and maintenance records.
• Drive/operate plant and equipment where trained, necessary for the day‑to‑day tasks set.
• Take responsibility for vehicles/plant/materials in your charge.
• Where appropriate provide direction/supervision of the work to less experienced operatives.

Essential Skills

• Clean driving licence.
• A commitment to Health and Safety.
• Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy.
• Ability to undertake a high level of manual work and work outdoors in all weathers.
• CSCS card.

Desirable Skills

• Highways experience.
• HGV licence.
• New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA).
• Operative Accreditation Lantra 12d.
• Winter Works.

Rate of Pay

£13.00–£13.50 per hour depending upon experience. These will be PAYE positions so you will benefit from:

• Accrued Holiday Pay from day one.
• Pension contributions (after a qualifying period).
• Weekly pay.
• No umbrella payments or fees – only tax and National Insurance deductions, which will be shown on your payslip.
