Overview

As a Class 1 (HGV) Driver supporting our manufacturing and fulfilment operations at Rudie’s Kitchen and Aces Pantry, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe, smooth and timely movement of trailers across our sites. The role is full‑time and permanent, based in our kitchen in Blyth, Doncaster. Work will be organised as a rolling shift rotation with a mixture of days, nights and weekend duties.

Competitive salary package: £12.84 per hour plus a 20 % shift premium (£15.41 per hour). Base salary £27 468 (or £32 961 with 20 % premium).

Responsibilities
  • Safely move Class 1 vehicles and trailers between Rudie’s Kitchen, Aces Pantry and the adjoining public road.
  • Carry out on‑site shunting, ensuring trailers are positioned correctly for loading, unloading and storage.
  • Complete pre‑start checks on vehicles and trailers, identifying and reporting any defects.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear the correct PPE at all times.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse and Production teams to ensure smooth trailer flow and minimal downtime.
  • Conduct basic quality and safety checks to ensure compliance with site and legislative standards.
  • Assist with stock movements and support site logistics where needed to keep operations running efficiently.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and operate with a “clean as you go” mindset.
  • Occasionally attend daily review meetings and contribute to performance discussions.
Shift Pattern
  • 4 on / 4 off – 2 day, 2 night shifts
  • 5 on, 5 off – 3 days, 2 night shifts
  • 5 on, 5 off – 2 days, 3 night shifts
Qualifications & Attributes
  • Proven experience as a Class 1 (HGV) driver – essential.

  • Confident manoeuvring trailers in tight or busy yard environments.
  • Reliable, proactive and eager to work in a fast‑paced operational setting.
  • Effective communication – clear with colleagues and a strong team player.
