Qualifications

  • Ability to perform repairs and inspections according to DVSA Standards.
  • Must hold a valid UK driving licence for relevant classes.

  • Carry out PDI works and attachment set up on machinery.
  • Maintain service vehicle inventory and cleanliness.
  • Work with sales and repair teams to ensure quality service.

Job description

HGV & Plant Technician (mobile)

Basic salary up to : £42,000 DOE (overtime at X1.5 and call out payments available)

40 hours a week

As a Plant and HGV Technician, your role will be to keep the customers’ vehicles and machinery fully maintained and compliant to maximise uptime. The right candidate will be able to deliver an exceptional service and to the highest quality.

Day to day responsibilities
  • Performing major and minor repairs to plant machinery as well as heavy goods vehicles, trailers and other vehicles as required.
  • Carrying out PDI works and attachment set up on plant machinery.
  • Mobile repair and maintenance of plant machinery.
  • Performing regular inspection and general preventive maintenance services according to machine hrs and schedules.
  • Maintaining inventory in the service vehicle and ensuring cleanliness from oil spills and dust.
  • Working with other departments, including the sales team to ensure a quality and reliable service level is provided to customers.
  • Working with repair teams to help diagnose and plan repairs for machines/vehicles.
  • Maintaining records of machines/vehicles that have been repaired or handled.
  • Completing relevant documentation and paperwork as required and providing warranty claims according to manufacturer requirements or escalating them to higher management.
  • Providing in‑house training to recruits and trainees as required.
  • Carrying out your role with quality, compliance and health and safety always at the forefront of what you do.
Skills & Behaviours Required for this Role
  • Qualification – Level 3 (NVQ, City and Guilds or IMI Qualification) in HGV Vehicle Repair and maintenance, plus plant machinery repair and maintenance to a minimum of Level 3.
  • Ability to identify worn and faulty components in accordance with the DVSA Standards.
  • Current, full UK driving licence for the relevant vehicle and machinery classes.
