This is a panel of individuals who will provide market, community, and industry insights related to the development of heat networks in Bristol, ensuring alignment with the project's strategic goals, and being a "critical friend" who can support and challenge the ongoing development of the project. As a member of the Advisory Panel, you will work closely with our client's board of directors to provide specialist insight and advice in the delivery of the heat network and its elements over the coming years. The panel will be constituted in such a way that the members have a range of knowledge and skills that offer effective scrutiny and support to the discussions surrounding the heat project. Candidates do not necessarily need to have knowledge or experience with heat networks or the energy industry, as this role is designed to offer supplementary support from outside of the industry.

  • Challenge the direction of the project in relation to internal targets and deadlines
  • Provide feedback and ideas to enhance the heat network and its project proposals to align it more closely with community ideals and projects
  • Propose projects that could be included in the heat networks plan that may be developed or owned by the community
  • Take part in and/or create opportunities to promote the heat network on a local/regional/national level
  • Input into the development of policy positions related to the heat network
What We Need From You
  • Demonstrated community involvement within the Bristol area
  • An interest in energy infrastructure and the direction of renewable energy within the local community
  • An interest in educating the local population on the heat network
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to represent the Heat Network Advisory Panel in meetings and events
  • An ability to handle commercially sensitive information
  • An awareness of the tensions that may arise between meeting carbon reduction, social value and political considerations around this project
