Wehave an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our wonderful teamon the Inpatient Unit to cover maternity leave. To apply, you must be, enthusiastic, flexible, and havea passion for palliative and end of life care, have excellent communicationskills and be a good team player.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be part of amulti-disciplinary team, working under the direction of a registered nurse,delivering high quality, holistic patient care to patients and familiesaccessing our Inpatient Unit.

Job responsibilities

To work under the direction of aregistered nurse both independently and as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team.You will support the nursing team in the delivery of direct patient care withthe aim of providing high quality, holistic, palliative and end of life care topatients and their families

Youwill actively engage with colleagues, patients, patients families and carers,volunteers and visitors.

Thepost will involve internal rotation on day and night duty.

Clinical

Contribute to multi-professionalworking and support the nursing team in the delivery of patient care within theIn-Patient Unit.

Anticipate and respond tochanging patient needs whilst maintaining their independence, privacy anddignity.

Understand and promote infectioncontrol practices and policies.

Assist in the implementation anddelivery of patient care under the supervision and direction of a qualifiednurse.

Ensure the rights of patients areadhered and that care choices are consented to.

Assist, as necessary, to ensurethe nutritional intake of a patient is maintained.

Following the patients careplan, observe patients condition and report observations / changes to aregistered nurse.

Update relevant documentation asrequired (both paper and electronic records)

Provide support and informationto patients, patients families or carers and to colleagues, as appropriate andwithin the boundaries of your role, skills and knowledge allows.

Be responsible and accountablefor the standard of care given.

Follow guidelines for safesystems at work and nursing procedures and maintain a safe working environment.

Participate in and contribute toservice development, evaluation and changes.

Learning and Development

Positivelycommit to annual staff appraisals and regular performance / competenciesreviews toensurepersonal professional development.

Participate in educationalprogrammes and specifically attend teaching identified to meet your developmentaims and objectives.
