Job summary

A healthcare services provider is looking for a dedicated Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support patients in ophthalmology wards. The role involves caring for patients undergoing eye procedures, assisting with personal care and mobility, and maintaining a safe environment. Ideal candidates will possess previous HCA experience, be confident in supporting visually-impaired patients, and hold an Enhanced PVG. Qualifications

📣 Healthcare Assistant (HCA) – Ophthalmology Ward

Location: NHS Hospital / Ophthalmology Inpatient or Day‑Case Unit

Type: Temporary

Band: 2–3

SJK Healthcare is seeking dedicated Healthcare Assistants to support patients on busy Ophthalmology wards, caring for individuals undergoing cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, retinal treatments, and eye‑related acute admissions.

💼 Key Responsibilities
  • Support patients pre‑ and post‑eye surgery
  • Carry out basic observations & escalate abnormalities
  • Assist with eye dressings, drop administration support (under RN instruction)
  • Guide visually‑impaired patients safely around the ward
  • Provide personal care, mobility assistance & reassurance
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment & follow strict IPC
  • Assist with admissions, discharges & patient flow
🩺 Requirements
  • Previous HCA experience (hospital or day‑surgery beneficial)
  • Confident supporting patients with reduced vision
  • Enhanced PVG + mandatory training up to date
