Qualifications

Healthcare Assistant – General Surgery ward

London: The Princess Grace Hospital

Permanent Full time, 37.5 hours per week (Mon‑Sun)

Shifts: Flexible to work long days, nights and weekends

Salary: competitive dependent on experience + 9% shift enhancement

We’re looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Nursing team at The Princess Grace Hospital, Currently rated "Good" by the CQC. Situated in the heart of London's world‑renowned medical district, The Princess Grace Hospital is recognised as one of the best‑equipped multidisciplinary private hospitals in the capital. Our dedicated and highly trained team is committed to delivering an exemplary standard of clinical care across all specialties.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be responsible for providing skilled clinical assistance to the nursing and medical teams, participating in the assessment of patient care needs, and implementing and maintaining agreed standards of care. You will also assist with patient and non‑patient manual handling, cleaning duties and waste disposal, re‑stocking and ensuring the ward is tidy.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Assisting in the provision of care to patients to ensure their comfort/safety needs are identified, whilst respecting cultural and religious beliefs.
  • Reporting to nurses any problems arising from conversations with patients and acting as the patient advocate at all times.
  • Reporting patient’s condition when required and recording observations of temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, pulse oximetry, urinalysis, blood sugars, weight and height.
  • Preparing dressings/procedures under the direction of the clinical team and for which instruction has been given.
  • Assisting nursing and medical staff when required with different procedures under supervision and competency.
What you’ll bring:
  • Minimum NVQ level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • Care certificate.
  • Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital setting (Surgical experience preferred).
  • Good clinical skills such as phlebotomy will be an advantage.
  • Experience of working with members of the public is essential.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English verbally and written.
