Overview

We are hiring an experienced Healthcare Assistant to support the nursing staff and multidisciplinary team in Practice Plus Group Ophthalmology, Bamber Bridge, Preston. You will help deliver high standards of care in a safe and caring environment, working with Ophthalmic Nurses in outpatients and theatre.

We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to a hard-working, rewarding team where the work can be challenging but is also enjoyable.

Job summary

This role is for 37.5 hours per week across 4 days. Travel to mobile sites across Preston, Lancashire, Manchester and Yorkshire will be part of the contract. Travel time and mileage will be paid. Shifts start at 07:30am.

Applicants will need a full and clean driving licence. Ophthalmology experience is preferred but not essential.

Main duties of the job

To provide support to the nursing team and other members of the multidisciplinary team for the delivery of high standard care to patients, in a safe and caring environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the clinical staff in the efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are adequately stocked, tidy and fit for purpose.
  • Provide escort duties within the service as necessary at the discretion of the nurse in charge.
  • Participate as a team member, sharing knowledge and promoting a cohesive team.
  • Accurately record up-to-date information on records and promptly inform the department of any changes.
  • Participate in stock control and ordering of consumables within clinical areas.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of team members.
  • Respect privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients and carers.
  • Act as a chaperone as required.

Qualifications and experience

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent, with willingness to undertake further training.
  • Experience or good understanding of HCA duties and responsibilities.

  • Flexibility to fit into an internal rotating shift pattern.
  • Ophthalmology experience is preferred but not essential.
  • A full and clean driving licence
