A local healthcare practice in York is seeking a motivated Healthcare Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support. The ideal candidate will have NVQ qualifications and experience in a healthcare setting. You will be responsible for various duties including performing diagnostic tests and maintaining patient records. This is a part-time role with approximately 16 hours per week and offers training opportunities.
We are seeking to recruit a motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly practice nurse team. The right person will provide administrative & clinical support by offering a high quality service to the patients of the practice, within their professional competence, under the guidance of a qualified nurse during mornings.

Please see job description attached for this position. You will be expected to provide a range of Healthcare Assistant duties within your scope of practice, under the guidance of the nurse team.
Full training will be available for the right candidate.
We are a friendly, two partner, rural dispensing practice,providing General Medical Services to a population of approximately 3700. We work from a purpose built premises, with on site car parking available.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Performing diagnostic tests such as urinalysis, INR*, spirometry, and E.C.Gs
* To carry out the collection of health-related data and long term condition reviews, NHS health checks and provide basic health promotion advice
* Administer medications and immunisations via injection, in accordance with own capabilities/training and within a PSD.
* Maintaining the cold chain
* Act as a chaperone
* Perform wound care dressings, including Doppler assessment
* Keep clear and accurate patient records, utilising templates on System1, ensuring relevant codes and clinical information is correct
* Performing other clinical and administrative tasks as required, in agreement & after full training, to meet the needs of the practice
* Maintaining infection control standards.
* Maintaining and ordering of clinical stock as needed
* Preparing consultation rooms and maintaining stocks of examination instruments and specimen collection materials
* Undertake various administration tasks, such as asthma/COPD recall, to assist the Practice to achieve QOF targets
* Maintaining confidentiality in line with practice guidelines
* To attend and contribute to nurse and practice team meetings
* To undertake clinical supervision, including reflection on practice
Terms and Conditions:
* Hours of work will be approximately 16 per week plus cover for holidays, sickness and training
* Holiday entitlement will be 4 weeks paid leave per annum, pro rata plus statutory days. Increasing to 5 weeks after 2 years Holidays are to be arranged so that only one nurse is absent at any one time.
* PAYE regulations will apply.
* The post is pensionable.
* It is a requirement that the post holder maintains their professional development by undertaking relevant training and attending courses and study days. Internal training will be provided where required.
* There will be an initial 6 month trial period with an interim review at 3 months.
* The surgery is a non-smoking environment.
* It will be necessary to be aware of, and to work within, Health and Safety Legislation.
