Job summary

Job description
The Role

The post holder will be accountable for the direct delivery of services within defined geographic areas or clinical specialities. They will plan and implement activities within own area of responsibility, this may be for a part of the organisation such as paediatrics, learning disability, forensic mental health etc. There is also responsibility for developing local policies for their delegated area and protocols for implementing NHSL policy within that area, taking into account impact on other parts of the organisation or other agencies.

They will provide dynamic leadership in respect of service development within a locality and to be accountable at locality level for the operational management of a wide but defined range of professional disciplines taking responsibility for performance management, resource usage and activity. They will also to be involved in the strategic management of services within the locality.

Managing, developing and directing services with the overall aim of improving health and reducing health inequalities in line with Scottish Government priorities and local need will be required. Leading in the implementation of the redesign and modernisation agenda for defined geographic areas and/or clinical specialities and to contributing to the wider redesign and modernisation agenda.

The successful post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of strategy across the Health & Social Care Partnership and NHSL including work with Partner Agencies and deputise as required for the Unit General Manager.

  • Clear understanding of and commitment to the development of community planning frameworks and Health & Social Care Partnerships as vehicles to promote the integration of all services reflecting user/public need and expectation
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to support effective negotiation, influencing, involvement and encouragement
  • Strategic and operational management capabilities
  • Sound analytical information management, technological, financial management skills
  • Ability to compose clear, accurate and relevant reports
  • Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA drivers licence
  • Access to a car
  • Ability to bring flexible working approach to meet the needs of the Service

It would be great if you also have
  • Management experience within proven track record in the successful management of staff and other resources
  • Proven track record of partnership and collaborative working internal and external to the organisation
  • Experience of redesign within a period of reorganisation
  • Experience of multi-agency working
  • Experience of leading, managing and working within diabetes and Endocrine speciality at a senior level
  • Understanding of the particular issues of unequal health outcomes, with experience of initiatives to address and managing them
  • Ability to continually focus on quality improvement.
  • Proven record of monitoring the quality of care and leading across dispersed service teams, to help staff collaborate for effective person centred outcomes.

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Friday
