Job summary

A leading nuclear industry firm is seeking Health Physics Surveyors to provide radiological monitoring for manufacturing. This role offers a structured training programme and progression path including a nationally recognized NVQ qualification. The position requires good communication skills and a standard education in Maths and English. Starting salary is £23,550 with potential to increase to £29,000+. Qualifications

AWE is currently recruiting for Health Physics Surveyors to work as part of a group responsible for providing front end radiological monitoring in support of manufacturing and production programmes.

This role will give you the first steps to a career in a diverse and unique manufacturing environment.

Starting salary: £23550 (plus allowances where applicable) with the opportunity to progress up to circa £29,000+ dependant on competencies gained.

Location: Reading / Burghfield Area

Key Requirements
  • Able to work at both Aldermaston and Burghfield
  • Good communication skills

  • Experience of an engineering or manufacturing environment however it is not essential as training will be given
  • Willing and able to wear all types of personal protective equipment
  • Our standard working pattern is a 9 day fortnight which comes with the benefit of every other Friday off. Some areas operate different patterns depending on the business need.
Special requirements
  • In order to obtain the required security for these roles you will need to be 18 years of age. These roles are governed by Health and Safety at Work Regulations and require all candidates to have an Occupational Health-set fitness level in order to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) needed to work in controlled environments. This includes a respirator.
  • Fitness will be assessed at the pre-employment medical held at AWE which follows the initial selection process. Candidates should be aware that one of the key requirements for ascertaining this fitness level relates to their Body Mass Index (BMI). Candidates for the role of Production Operative must have a BMI of less than 35.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated facilities.

Please note that we have dedicated start dates for Health Physics that run every 2nd month to fit in with the training programme.

Candidates may be required to work a shift pattern.
