Health Care Assistant - Urgent Response & Hospital and Care at Home

We have an exciting opportunity within our Urgent Response Team (URT), a multidisciplinary team delivering urgent response services to Salford residents. This role is expanding to include Hospital and Care at Home (H&C@H) virtual wards, working as part of a team using technology and new ways of working to provide safe alternatives to hospital admission and to support earlier discharge from hospital. This role supports NHS priorities and aims to improve the patient experience in Salford.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain communication with people about routine and daily activities, overcoming differences in communication as needed.
  • Develop your own skills and knowledge and provide information to others to support development.
  • Assist in assessing people’s health and wellbeing and related needs and planning.
  • Assist and enable patients in achieving aspects of care including personal hygiene and appearance; mobility; eating and drinking; using toilet facilities; maintaining independence and identity.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work with business insurance (travel requirement).
  • Ability to work as part of URT and H&C@H teams using technology-enabled care.
  • Experience and/or confidence in assisting with activities of daily living as described above.

Salary and Sponsorship Notes

Changes to UK immigration policy introduce a minimum salary threshold for Health and Care Worker visa applications. As of 9 April 2025, the threshold is £25,000 per year. For new NHS staff, the starting salary under Agenda for Change is at least £24,625 (Band 3, minimum from 1 April 2025).
