Job description

We are looking to recruit Health Care Assistant to join our friendly team serving 10,000 patients. Supported by our nursing team, the role will be 35.5 hrs per week over 4 days.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated HCA to join our nursing team.

The successful candidate will have experience in HCA duties, be enthusiastic, confident and familiar with policies & procedures.

Job responsibilities
Main Duties
  • New Patient registration checks
  • Chronic disease management checks
  • Venepuncture taking and preparing of pathology samples
  • Urinalysis testing and recording of specimens
  • Blood pressure monitoring, pulse rate and rhythm
  • 24 hr blood pressure monitoring
  • Measurement of height and weight
  • Provision of diet and lifestyle advice
  • Pill checks
  • Foot care assessments
  • Undertake Flu Immunisations
  • Provide Smoking Cessation advice and monitoring
  • Assist with the provision of health checks for both newly registered patients and cardio vascular health checks (NHS Health checks
  • Clinical Care
  • Work alongside the Clinicians in the provision of patient care
  • Assist Clinicians in emergency management of patients
  • Act as a chaperone
  • Provide relevant health promotion literature for patients
Care and Management Programme
  • Ensure stock are provided in GP and treatment rooms
  • Comply with sterilisation procedures
  • Follow infection control standards
  • Contribute new ideas to improve patient care
  • Instruct patients in appropriate techniques or tasks
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
Experience
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Working in a healthcare setting, working within a nursing team and dealing with vulnerable patients
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of working in a GP practice with EMIS Web
