Working within the Physical Security and Fire team the Head of Technical has a critical role in supporting the growth of the ScottishPower businesses. You’ll be responsible for leading and developing a multi-disciplined team of engineers to work in collaboration with and in support of the security project management team in the delivery of the portfolio of new projects across the ScottishPower estate.

The Head of Technical will ensure the technologies and applications used are secure current relevant and are resilient throughout the product life cycle. The role will include being responsible for supporting the delivery of large complex major projects such as Critical National Infrastructure sites for both Networks and Renewables (Onshore and Offshore).

You’ll deliver technology projects with a key focus on safety in all respects while achieving a high standard of quality and delivering the outputs of the Corporate Security capital program while maximising efficiency.

You’ll drive and coordinate activities and resources to ensure that technical aspects of project delivery timescales are met and the team of multi-disciplinary engineers is assigned to projects in line with the value streams and project task force model.

The Head of Technical will also be responsible for liaising / co-ordinating with the Head of Projects and the Head of Physical Security to ensure that the necessary technical input is provided in line with project requirements.

Youll get involved in the following
  • Management of a team of 14-plus people
  • Management of Security standards to ensure compliance with UK legislation.
  • Accountable for the design and efficiency savings of capital projects in of up to 40M p.a
  • Lead on risk mitigation strategies for existing and new technologies to executive level boards committees and audit functions.
  • Lead interface with the Global Technology Group to ensure system designs are aligned with Iberdrolas strategy.
  • Management of systems design for security assets including OT design interface and cyber risk.
  • Lead interface with audit risk and governance functions to ensure security systems have been designed and commissioned effectively throughout the group.
  • Lead ScottishPower interface with Government security agencies and the Regulator in respect of design of critical national infrastructure (NPSA DESNZ & OFGEM).
  • Accountable for the development of emergency procedures in areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to work in a matrix managed environment as part of the Corporate Security UK team.
What youll bring

As a minimum you will bring :

  • Degree educated in an engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • Significant demonstrable experience of providing lead technical experience within the Security Utility or other relevant Industries.
  • Experience operating within a largescale industrial capital project environment.
  • Good understanding of systems design including OT experience and cyber knowledge
  • Experience of managing multi-disciplined engineering resources
  • Strong ability to manage own performance with focus on delivery within a varied and challenging workload whilst producing high quality results.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety Principles and their application in the delivery of largescale projects.

The role requires that the successful candidate can obtain UK Government Security Clearance
