Job summary

A leading M&A insurance firm is seeking an experienced Tax Underwriter to lead their tax risk insurance business. The role involves underwriting tax liability risks, assessing tax risks, and reviewing related documentation. Candidates should have a tax legal or accountancy background with at least 2 years of underwriting experience in the UK/EU market. Strong analytical and people management skills are essential. Our client is a market leading M&A insurance MGA with an established team of Underwriters. They are now looking for an experienced Tax Underwriter to lead their tax risk insurance business. The role offers a rare opportunity to develop your tax career as part of a market insurance business by underwriting tax liability risks across all regions outside of the US in a fast-paced and collegiate environment.

Responsibilities

Underwriting tax liability insurance risks (independently, as head of the team and also working with other team members) including :

  • Analysing and assessing tax risks
  • Reviewing relevant transaction documentation from a tax perspective (e.g. sale and purchase agreements and due diligence reports)
  • Drafting and negotiating complex policy language
  • Establishing and growing strong relationships with brokers, clients and advisors
  • Mentor other tax team members and provide technical guidance
Skills and Experience
  • Tax legal or accountancy background with at least 2 years of UK / EU tax insurance underwriting or broking experience
  • Strong ability to analyse a broad variety of corporate tax issues arising in domestic and crossborder transactions / structures as well as operational tax issues to determine key issues
  • People management – ability to engage and lead a team
