Liquid Personnel are currently recruiting for a Head of Service to lead the Children and Young People with Disabilities (CYPD) service in Barking & Dagenham.

About the service:

As Head of Service, you will lead a multi-disciplinary service including Early Help and Social Care teams, a CYPD Family Hub, Short Breaks, Portage, and Social Work teams. You’ll be responsible for strategic and operational leadership, ensuring high-quality, relationship-based practice and timely outcomes for children and families. The service is currently undergoing transformation aligned with the Families First National Reform agenda, and you’ll play a key role in shaping its future.

About you:

We are looking for a qualified social work professional with current SWE registration and extensive leadership experience in children’s services. You’ll bring a deep understanding of the challenges faced by children and young people with disabilities, and a passion for delivering inclusive, high-impact services. You’ll be a reflective, resilient leader who can inspire teams, drive performance, and build strong partnerships across the SEND and Adult Social Care landscape.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing Early Help and Social Care services for CYPD
  • Driving high performance, quality practice, and positive outcomes
  • Supporting staff wellbeing and professional development
  • Leading service transformation and improvement
  • Building strong partnerships across the local area
  • Qualified Social Worker with valid SWE registration
  • Proven leadership experience in children’s services
  • Strong understanding of SEND, Early Help, and safeguarding
  • Ability to manage risk, performance, and service development
