Job description

HonuWorx is developing next-generation marine robotics technologies that will change the way the world works underwater. Our approach will make subsea work safer, greener and more efficient. We move quickly, execute efficiently, and adapt fast to changing needs. Everyone at HonuWorx takes ownership of their domain and proactively drives products and projects forward.

Following continued growth and recent investment, we are hiring a Head of Programmes to lead HonuWorx’s strategic R&D initiatives and commercial delivery efforts. Alongside this, you will help shape the organisational design and ways-of-working that underpin consistent execution as the company scales.

This is a full-time leadership role based out of our Aberdeen office, with flexibility on working hours and some home working. It’s a rare opportunity to make a pivotal contribution to not only the future of HonuWorx, but the wider ocean technology sector.

Key Responsibilities
Programme Management (Primary Focus)
  • Lead a portfolio of interconnected engineering, testing and demonstration projects that progress our flagship products toward market.
  • Plan, manage and report on delivery for major programmes, including design, build and sea trials for prototype systems.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (software, hardware, operations) to ensure aligned, high-quality execution.
  • Prepare and execute in-water trials, offshore demonstrations and pilot programmes with key customers.
Operational Development
  • Help shape and mature core operational functions that support delivery and growth, including supply chain, health & safety, facilities, quality and IT.
  • Introduce practical, lightweight processes that enable efficient execution without unnecessary overhead.
  • Ensure the business is “deployment ready” — with the systems, routines and checks required for safe, effective field operations.
Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and steward the HonuWorx “Operating System” — the working principles and rhythms that drive clarity, accountability and improvement.
  • Capture lessons learned from programmes and trials, turning them into better processes and behaviours across the company.
Technical Operations & Service Delivery
  • Coordinate teams delivering commercial contracts, in-water trials and pilot programmes.
  • Oversee utilisation and basic management of technical assets.
  • Support mobilisation and demobilisation routines for field operations.
Requirements
Essential
  • Experience in technology delivery or programme management, ideally within engineering, robotics for defence or offshore energy.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary projects with both technical and commercial outcomes.
  • Practical knowledge of lean/agile principles and business process development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across engineering, operations and leadership.
  • Energy, resilience, and an open mind — comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve.
Desirable
  • Domain knowledge of subsea operations, underwater vehicles or our key market verticals.
  • Experience contributing to HSE, quality or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in early-stage or scaling organisations.
