An established and growing manufacturing and distribution business based in Mansfield is seeking an experienced Head of Operations to lead and develop its end-to-end operational function.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for manufacturing, distribution, sales support and facilities, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance and continuous improvement across the site.

The Role

Reporting into the Managing Director, the Head of Operations will take full ownership of day‑to‑day operations, driving performance, safety and quality while supporting future growth and capacity expansion.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Overall leadership of site operations including manufacturing, distribution, sales support, facilities and security
  • Driving production planning, output, efficiency and equipment maintenance
  • Managing and developing multi‑disciplinary operational teams
  • Ensuring best‑in‑class Health & Safety standards and safe systems of work
  • Ownership of ISO, FSC and other compliance and accreditation frameworks
  • Resource planning across teams to meet operational demand
  • Negotiating with transport and logistics providers to ensure cost‑effective, reliable service
  • Coordinating temporary labour where required
  • Partnering closely with supply chain and purchasing to improve inbound and outbound stock flow
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives across the operation
About You

You will be a proven operational leader with strong experience in manufacturing, logistics or distribution‑led environments, comfortable operating both strategically and hands‑on.

Key requirements:
  • Significant experience in a senior operations or site leadership role
  • Strong people management skills with experience leading diverse operational teams
  • In‑depth knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance
  • Experience managing ISO and FSC (or similar) accreditation systems
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills, particularly with logistics partners
  • Solid understanding of production processes, maintenance and capacity planning
  • Highly organised, solutions‑focused and driven by continuous improvement
  • Confident working in fast‑paced, shop‑floor‑led environments
