Head of Network Operations

Sector: EV Charging / Renewable Energy

Location: South West England - Hybrid - 3 days in HQ

Salary: £90,000 - £110,000

I am very excited to be working with this group and their wonderful leadership team on this newly created role. We are looking for a naturally curious and ambitious individual with strong leadership capabilities to take on the Head of Network Operations role.

About the role: All About you

You will be qualified in and engineering or asset management discipline and have a deep understanding of regulatory pressures on a ‘zero down-time’ business. You will be comfortable communicating at all levels, from engineers to execs. Your core values around safety will be paramount, demonstrated in every task, and you will instil those values in your teams. You will be able to build excellent relationships and partnerships with both clients and suppliers and you will have a keen appetite for adopting new technology to enhance delivery. You will be able to develop strategic plans that counter a purely reactive mindset and enable continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and oversee the Network Operations Centre, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 engineering, Field Services, Network Planning, Asset Management, and Materials Control functions.
  • Operational Performance & Strategy
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and resilience of network assets in line with performance KPIs and service level targets.
  • Lead operational readiness for new product and technology introductions, ensuring seamless integration into existing systems and processes.
  • Network Planning, Asset & Materials Management
  • Direct asset management programs to maximise lifecycle value, equipment uptime, and reliability.
  • Contract & Supplier Management
  • Take ownership of operational and maintenance contracts, ensuring supplier performance meets SLAs, KPIs, and commercial expectations.
  • Financial & Commercial Management
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulatory, environmental, and health and safety requirements.
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management – foster transparency and communication at all levels
Qualifications and Certifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Asset Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Membership to a relevant governing body (e.g. IET, IMechE, IEEE or Equivalent)
  • Professional certifications related to maintenance management, asset management, or health and safety (e.g., CMIOSH, IRCA, IAM, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
