Head of Learning & Organisational Development

Location: Midlands or Northampton based with multi-site responsibility

My client is seeking an experienced Head of Learning & Organisational Development to design and lead a strategic learning and OD agenda for a growing, complex organisation. This is a high-impact role focused on building capability, driving cultural transformation, and enabling the business to meet future challenges. You'll shape the learning strategy, introduce modern learning solutions, and partner with senior leaders to develop both organisational and people capability across a diverse, skilled workforce. Key responsibilities of the Head of Learning & Organisational Development
  • Create and deliver a forward‑looking Learning & OD strategy aligned to business priorities.
  • Work with senior leaders to identify capability gaps and design targeted development initiatives.
  • Lead programmes that strengthen culture, engagement, inclusion, performance, and leadership capability.
  • Oversee the development of learning programmes across leadership, behavioural skills, and technical craft skills.
  • Introduce and embed a new LMS and digital learning offering.
  • Implement innovative development solutions, including blended learning, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory training and professional standards.
  • Support organisational change, including structural, cultural, and process improvements.
  • Facilitate talent processes such as succession planning and career development.
  • Use data and analytics to evaluate the impact of learning and OD activity.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on organisational development.
  • Manage the L&OD budget and ensure return on investment.
  • Maintain governance and quality across all learning interventions.
