Job description

Overview

Queen’s College, London is seeking a Head of Finance to lead the Finance function during a period of significant change in the independent school sector. The role is based on Harley Street in W1, with a 176-year history and ambitious plans to continue educating the trailblazing women of tomorrow. The post involves continuing the finance team’s modernisation, embedding new systems and procedures, and working closely with a senior strategic team to support future growth domestically and internationally. The successful candidate will balance strategic finance leadership with day-to-day operational involvement and will drive efficient delivery of objectives to enable high-quality educational provision.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Finance function and drive ongoing modernisation of systems and procedures across both Queen’s College sites.
• Embed new financial processes and maintain robust financial control and reporting.
• Collaborate with the senior strategic team to shape future growth plans, including international expansion.
• Balance strategic finance leadership with engagement in day-to-day operational activities within the team.
• Identify the most efficient ways to deliver objectives and embed effective procedures across the organisation.
• Enable income generation to support the delivery of high-quality educational provision for students.

Qualifications and experience

• Proven experience leading finance in an education setting or independent school environment is desirable.
• Strong strategic and operational finance capabilities with a track record of embedding processes and improving efficiency.
• Ability to work with senior management and contribute to long-term planning.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; must be willing to undergo pre-employment procedures, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
