What you'll be doing

As Head of Compliance for the House of Commons Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team (PMST), you will play a central role in ensuring the safe, resilient and compliant operation of the UK Parliament. Leading the Compliance team and sitting within the Senior Leadership Group, you will oversee health and safety management, statutory compliance, and risk and business continuity planning across a uniquely complex environment. This is a rare opportunity to apply your technical and strategic expertise where it has real national significance.

You will shape the compliance strategy for PMST, champion continuous improvement and drive innovation in how we manage risk, monitor performance and strengthen assurance.

As a leader of a team of up to five specialists, you will foster an inclusive, high‑performing culture, ensuring strong professional standards and effective workforce planning. Working closely with colleagues across Parliament. You will provide clear, evidence‑based advice on compliance status, statutory obligations and risk.

What we're looking for.
  • Recognised industry Health and Safety and/or Technical Services Engineering professional qualification.
  • Experience of working in a senior compliance role and having a good knowledge of different types of maintenance delivery models and forms of contracts.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of current legislation and statutory regulations associated with building services.
  • Risk management experience with knowledge of best practice business continuity planning in complex corporate organisations.
  • Capability to build strategies to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, process, training and ways of working. Ability to produce comprehensive performance reporting, identifying trends and escalating issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate clearly and build effective working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
