About the Team

This is an integrated post which sits across the public health intelligence team, Lambeth HDRC and Lambeth Together partnership. This post will be line managed by the head of health intelligence, which sits within the public health team. Lambeth Council is one of local authorities to have been awarded funding by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This significant investment enables local authorities to set up pioneering Health Determinants Research Collaborations (HDRCs) between local staff, the community, and researchers to work together to address knowledge gaps in local areas. The HDRC is a new element of research infrastructure funding from the NIHR’s Public Health Programme based in local government. The purpose is to enable local authorities to become more research-active, undertake new research and use existing evidence to inform our decision making, and undertake evaluation activities. There will be a central focus on health inequalities and actions to tackle issues faced by disadvantaged groups and areas .

About the Role

The Data Scientist Manager will lead thedata workstream that seeks to support whole-system linked data across local government, NHS partners, higher education institutes and other local agencies ( police) for epidemiology, modelling, decision support and evaluation; and demonstrate the power of data science and connected data for evidence-based decision making within the Council and with partners. They will work with analyst and other colleagues across the council and local health and care system to support the development of data science projects to extract meaningful responses to solve real-world problems. The post holder will take an active role in the data analysis community of practice across the council and in working with external research partners.
