Job description
Overview

The University Medical Group is a dynamic and high-quality practice caring for 32 000 patients. We are a one site practice located close to the University campus with a diverse patient population including around 9,000 students as patients. This is a full time role working extended hours until 20:00 once per week.

Responsibilities
  • Wound care dressings including compression
  • Removal of stitches
  • Perform NHS Health checks, weight monitoring, and Long-Term Condition monitoring including diabetic foot checks
  • Provide lifestyle advice to patients and make necessary referrals
  • ECG
  • Phlebotomy
  • Administer B12 injections under PSDs signed by GPs
  • Administer annual influenza vaccinations/pneumonia vaccines under PSD
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Injections, including B12, Zoladex, Whooping cough, Shingles under PSD
  • Restocking of all clinical areas, maintaining stocks, and keeping areas clean
  • Maintain and order clinical supplies
  • Use appropriate templates in EMIS/Ardens for all procedures; training will be provided
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate
About the role and team development

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and motivated practice HCA to join our friendly nursing team with primary care experience. Being a centre of education is one of our objectives; staff development is a priority. We have student paramedics, PA students, Pharmacy students, and two GP trainees. There is an in-house educational programme with protected time to attend and a GP supervisor available daily for learners, plus an Urgent care team consisting of a GP and paramedic for more unwell patients. This enables all clinicians to be supported if they have any clinical concerns about their patients.
