Qualifications

  • At least 2 years commercial experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with small microprocessor and microcontroller systems.
  • Familiarity with environmental testing standards such as RTCA / DO-160.

Overview

If you’re looking for a Hardware Engineer role where you can truly develop into a subject matter expert over the next few years, this is a rare opportunity to do exactly that. You’ll join a world-class engineering team working on complex computer hardware systems, gaining experience across design, integration, qualification, and documentation, whilst learning from Electronics experts who are passionate about developing talent for the long term. This is a broad hardware engineering position focused on computer hardware rather than bleeding-edge electronics R&D. There will be some design work, but also a strong focus on system integration, documentation, and problem-solving, ideal for someone who enjoys practical engineering and seeing how everything fits together. The company is known for developing their engineers, helping them grow into specialists and leaders in their field.

Position: Hardware Engineer

Location: Letchworth

Salary: £40-60k

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to hardware engineering work with focus on system integration, documentation, and problem-solving.
  • Engage in design activities as required while gaining broad exposure to design, integration, qualification, and documentation processes.
  • Collaborate with Electronics experts and other teams to ensure robust hardware solutions.
Qualifications and experience
  • At least 2 years commercial experience in a similar role
  • Degree in Electronic Engineering
  • Solid experience in some of the technologies below
  • Other experience that will be useful - embedded systems, digital and analogue design, small microprocessor and microcontroller systems, schematic design and some PCB layout (ORCAD, MENTOR or similar), Op Amp and DC-DC PSU design, EMC design (or willing to learn), environmental testing to standards such as RTCA / DO-160 including test specification and reporting, board-level fault finding, production collaboration experience, experience in aerospace, automotive, medical, or safety-critical environments.
