Job summary

A leading defense contractor in Reading is looking for an NTR Software Engineer to develop software for nuclear hazard modeling. Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline (ideally Computer Science or Software Engineering), equivalent NQF level 6 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
  • Demonstrable experience developing high quality user-focussed Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs).
  • Motivated to deliver high quality and maintainable software products.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the development of the graphical front-end to the modelling capability.
  • Research Software Engineering (RSE) support to scientists and modellers within the team.
  • Contributing to the development of interactive briefing products used to communicate model results to stakeholders.
  • Writing technical documentation, delivering training, and supporting users of the modelling capability.

Skills

Strong programming skills in C++

Experience in developing Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs)
Ability to work independently
