Job description

Our Capital Engineering division is recruiting for a newly created role Group Leader - Engineering Specialists.

This role will lead significant technical multi-disciplinary teams which also include Team Leaders. You will be leading a functional engineering capability that ensures that critical skills, tools and services are developed to align with engineering project requirements c.300 heads.

Location: Reading

Capital Engineering at AWE

The Capital Engineering function provides people, processes, services and expertise to the delivery teams as we develop and deliver the most exciting and challenging next generation of facilities and equipment to enable the qualification, manufacture and through-life support of critical product components.

The Capital team serve three significant portfolios:

  • Our Future Materials Campus, for new nuclear production facilities.

  • Our Cross Conventional programme for new explosive, chemi-toxic and conventional production facilities.

  • Our Liabilities programme for the decommissioning, demolition and disposal of legacy production facilities and equipment including some site security projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to a team with diverse skills and experience and build high performing teams associated with Infrastructure projects

  • Create a positive, collaborative and diverse working environment where you can easily identify and grow talent whilst increasing the quality and speed of performance

  • Develop and optimise the engineering resource capability to ensure that competency and skills are maintained to deliver current and future programme needs

  • Provide regulatory interfaces to ensure requirements are met

  • Deliver a holistic engineering resourcing strategy across AWE and our supply chain that improves efficiency, effectiveness and quality

  • Driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

  • Identify key tools to enable engineering efficiencies, empowerment and capabilities

  • Act as an ambassador for AWE demonstrating excellent interpersonal, engagement and presentation skills
