Overview

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join a reputable manufacturing business based in Bristol. This role requires a strong background in accounting and finance to lead financial operations effectively and drive strategic growth.

Client Details

The company is a well-established organisation operating within the manufacturing industry. As a medium-sized business, it is known for its focus on delivering high-quality products and maintaining a professional, collaborative working environment.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic & Financial Planning: Develop and implement the business plan, including strategic objectives, budgets, and financial forecasts. Take full ownership of budgets and monthly forecasts, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and effective management of financial performance. Identify, assess, and manage key assumptions, risks, and opportunities affecting business and project performance.
  • Financial Management & Reporting: Oversee all month-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate, and insightful management reporting. Prepare monthly management accounts and financial performance reports for internal and external stakeholders. Manage cash flow, ensuring liquidity and financial stability of the business. Lead forecasting and budgeting processes through effective collaboration with the finance team.
  • Governance, Audit & Compliance: Manage the relationship and process with external auditors, ensuring timely completion of statutory audits. Oversee tax, audit, risk and compliance activities. Maintain strong internal controls and efficient financial processes across the organisation.
  • Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Lead, develop, and manage the finance team to ensure high performance, accuracy, and efficiency. Build and maintain effective relationships with banks, auditors, and other external stakeholders. Provide financial insights and support to senior leadership and operational teams to drive informed strategic decision-making.
Profile

A successful Group Financial Controller should have:

  • A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven expertise in financial management within the engineering or manufacturing sector.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
