Job description

Overview

Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Grounds Operative to join South Gloucestershire Council. Based from Broad Lane Council Offices, offering £14 per hour. Working Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm. This role delivers services for the Parish & Town Councils and is responsible for all aspects of grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out grounds maintenance including hedge cutting, grass cutting, shrub bed maintenance and litter collection on public open space.
• Operate specialist equipment such as strimmers, hedge cutters, hand blowers, pole saws and other power tools, ensuring safety procedures are followed and reporting faults as part of routine checks.
• Check work against required standards and provide support, advice, and clear daily task instructions to a small team.
• Work within the approved risk assessment framework and ensure the safety of yourself and colleagues, reporting any issues of concern.
• Communicate with customers, provide accurate information, and maintain documents and records that are up to date and accessible.

Experience / Qualifications

• Previous experience of working within a team is preferred.
• Some experience using small grounds tools (strimmers, hedge cutters, hand blower).
• General understanding of maintenance tasks such as repairing fences, fixing signs and removing graffiti.
• Experience of face-to-face contact with the public and delivering high standard of customer care.
