Job description
You

Stepping into your future - ready to learn, grow, and do meaningful work that matters.

At IVCEvidensia, you'll find a place where you can be yourself, supported by people who want to see you thrive. You'll get hands‑on experience, build your confidence, and discover just how far your passion can take you.

Unlock Your Passions at Scarsdale Vets

Scarsdale Vets are a group of Veterinary practices in the Midlands, with eleven small animal practices across Derby & Burton, a state‑of‑the‑art small animal hospital and dedicated teams of Farm and Equine vets serving the East Midlands region. You will be based at our Farm and Equine practice in Markeaton. We are close to M1, have good rail links and are less than 30 minutes away from East Midlands Airport.

We have a supportive team of 7 Equine Vets, supported by our nursing team of 6, including a qualified EVN and 3 student EVNs. Everyone is super friendly and work well together. We have regular socials and are a happy friendly team. Within the team, we have three certificate holders, a vet qualified in acupuncture and one of our vets is chair of the IVC equine clinical board. This is an excellent first job for anyone keen to be well supported in an equine practice with a friendly team and a broad range of bonded clients.

We have a fantastic clinic with inpatient and surgical facilities: 16 stables plus paddocks for turnout, indoor and outdoor menage and designated trot‑up area, stocks and examination room, knockdown box and theatre. Digital radiography and ultrasound machines for clinic and ambulatory use, good dental equipment, gastroscope, endoscope, shockwave and on‑site laboratory.

Enjoy a welcoming environment with structured support and flexibility to suit your lifestyle.

You will work 40 hours per week. You will be part of our on‑call and weekend rotas. The rota is generally 1 in 5 with new grads initially shadowing and then as their skills develop taking the lead on call with rota'd support from an experienced vet until they feel fully confident. Following a weekend on duty the following Monday afternoon and Friday whole day are given in lieu. After a night on duty there is an early finish from lunchtime. All our new graduates are well supported when on duty.

We have an experienced stable team as well as younger vets who are all really friendly and approachable with a range of skills and areas of expertise. The practice has extensive experience in supporting new graduates within an ambulatory setting with the benefit of a clinic to support you.
