GRADUATE FREIGHT CO-ORDINATOR – FREIGHT FORWARDING / EUROPEAN ROAD FREIGHT (HERTFORDSHIRE)

A brilliant opportunity to join a growing and progressive freight forwarding and logistics business based in Hertfordshire. This role is ideal for a Graduate (or someone early in their career) looking to build a long-term career within freight forwarding operations, European road freight, and import / export logistics.

Full training is provided, along with ongoing support and mentoring from experienced colleagues, making this a genuine “learn and develop” opportunity within a fast-moving operations environment.

THE ROLE

As a Graduate Freight Co-ordinator, you will support the day-to-day co-ordination of shipments between the UK and Europe, as well as movements within Europe. You will work closely with a Senior Operations Co-ordinator / Forwarding Manager and gain hands‑on exposure to freight forwarding, supplier liaison, pricing, and customs requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Co-ordinate European Road freight shipments between the UK and Europe, and within Europe
  • Support the management of a key contract for a substantial European-based manufacturer
  • Liaise with suppliers, partners, and internal teams to ensure smooth freight operations
  • Assist with import and export processes, including developing knowledge of customs requirements post‑Brexit
  • Negotiate costs and rates with suppliers and (where relevant) clients
  • Input quotations and quoted prices accurately, and proactively chase outcomes
  • Communicate logistical solutions clearly via email and telephone
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure data is entered correctly on internal systems

Key skills and experience:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Strong numeracy and literacy, with confidence around figures and quotations
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Interest in freight forwarding, logistics, customer service, geography, commerce, or supply chain
  • French or German language skills (advantageous, not essential)

SALARY AND BENEFITS
  • £25,000 per annum
  • Hours: 08:00 – 17:30
