Job description
About the Role

We’re looking for a curious, creative and technically–minded Graduate AI Automation Engineer to join our Growth & Sales team. You’ll use AI and automation tools to make Genie's growth engine run faster and smarter, freeing up the team’s time, driving operational efficiency and helping us reach new audiences through automated marketing and data–driven experimentation. Your mission? To make Genie's growth team hands‑free wherever possible, turning manual workflows into scalable automations and directly improving key marketing channels such as our newsletter, social media, and blog. We raised 17.8 million in Series A funding led by Google Ventures and joined by Khosla Ventures. Your manager, Will Bond – our AI Content Marketing Lead – will develop your skills and enable you to deliver on the pod mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build systems for automated and AI–driven interactions with customers, the press, and influencers.
  • Build and experiment with automation opportunities across the growth funnel, focusing especially on turning website visitors into app users and then into activated subscribers, uncovering scalable ways to accelerate this journey.
  • Spot gaps and opportunities for automation, source the right tools and implement solutions.
  • Design and maintain data pipelines that connect customer, product and marketing insights into one flow, producing actionable insights shared internally via automated means.
  • Run rapid experiments across channels–testing copy, cadence and creative to improve communication and engagement.
  • Ship MVP solutions fast, iterate based on feedback and always prioritise impact over polish.
  • Combine automation with personalisation at scale, exploring how tailored experiences drive stronger results than automation alone (e.g. intelligent content personalisation, website traffic triaging, context‑aware customer journeys).
180‐Day Plan
  • Month 1–2: Learn the lay of the land, understand existing automations, get hands‑on with our tools (HubSpot, Mixpanel, Linear, Stripe, Google Analytics), identify gaps and build a plan for new automations.
  • Month 2–4: Deliver your first automation projects and start owning one marketing channel. Design and implement an automation strategy to streamline its delivery.
  • Month 4–6: Identify and propose your own automation opportunities across Genie. Explore and integrate emerging AI tools, expanding automation across multiple channels.
Success Criteria
  • Delivered visible time‐saving automations that free up Growth team bandwidth.
  • Improved engagement and funnel metrics (e.g. open or conversion rates).
  • Contributed to key sprint objectives and shaped how automation drives Genie's growth engine.
Work Culture & Expectations

We are a start‑up in an exceptionally dynamic stage of growth. Our customer‑ and employee‑led organisation adapts to customer needs, and the problems we solve today could look very different in six months or by the end of this recruitment process. We empower you to have full autonomy, but you will balance that with collaboration and owning your space.

Potential Challenges
  • Genie is growing fast so priorities evolve as we experiment and learn.
  • You’ll face new tools and technologies regularly–exciting, but never static.
  • You’ll need to balance autonomy with collaboration–we trust you to own your space.
What We Love About Working Here
  • Freedom to explore and build with cutting‑edge AI tools.
  • A team that values first‑principles thinking and creative problem‑solving.
  • Opportunities to turn curiosity into tangible impact, fast.
  • A supportive, visionary environment that celebrates independent thinking.
Interview Process
  1. Apply & complete our take‑home task so we can get a baseline understanding of your skills.
  2. Meet our Head of Talent Acquisition, Char, to assess your motivations and baseline skills.
  3. Technical interview with Will Bond (our AI Content Marketing Lead) and Sophie Aitchison (our Growth Engineer).
  4. Culture interview with Ed Kendall (our Head of Sales) and Nitish Mutha (our Co‑Founder & CTO).
  5. For lead level roles and above, we collect blind references to set you up for success. These insights help us ensure a smooth transition into our team and foster meaningful collaboration from day one.
Benefits
  • Generous Stock Options.
  • Private health care.
  • Fully Remote Working.
  • Unlimited book budget.
  • Home Office Setup–a top‑of‑the‑range laptop, monitor, wireless keyboard, mouse and a comfortable office chair.
  • Learning & Development Budget–£500 L&D budget annually plus five days off for job‒specific learning.
  • Unlimited Holiday.
  • Parental Leave–enhanced leave for both parents.
  • Free access to Genie–create, negotiate and collaborate on legal documents in real time on one platform.
Qualifications
  • 2:1 degree (or better) in communications, business, or computing/technology–or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with AI and automation tools (bonus if you’ve used n8n, Zapier or similar).
  • Strong copywriting and creative content skills.
  • Demonstrated curiosity–side projects, tinkering or personal automation experiments are very welcome.
  • Experience running or contributing to an engaged marketing channel such as a social media account, newsletter or blog.
