The role

As Global Engineering Delivery Safety Engineering Lead, you will champion a Centre of Excellence approach across Nuclear, Marine, Land, Aviation, and international operations, defining and evolving strategies, frameworks, and governance that drive innovation, accelerate mobilisation, and strengthen delivery of complex programmes vital to national security and global infrastructure.

You will ensure engineering teams are structured for consistent, efficient, scalable, and safe delivery, providing the best available capability, applying best practice approaches, and ensuring technical outcomes that minimise risk across Babcock’s projects and programmes.

  • Define and evolve the Safety Engineering strategy, endorsed practices, and role taxonomy
  • Align talent to maximise impact and support enriched career pathways
  • Design and operationalise pre-mobilisation and readiness processes to shorten mobilisation times
  • Provide SME input into early gate reviews, mobilisation plans, and high-risk delivery reviews
  • Create and lead communities of practice and technical forums to accelerate innovation and continuous improvement

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office and days working from home.

Essential experience of the Global Engineering Delivery Safety Engineering Lead
  • Proven engineering management experience in complex, multi-sector capital delivery or major programmes
  • Ability to drive results through collaboration, ensuring enterprise success is achieved together
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify global market opportunities aligned to strategy
  • Broad technical knowledge and innovative thinking using data and insights to optimise engineering capability
  • Experience influencing at senior levels and delivering measurable improvements in engineering delivery
Qualifications for the Global Engineering Delivery Safety Engineering Lead
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) accreditation with a recognised Engineering Institution, or equivalent experience commensurate with the role, will be considered
  • Masters in engineering/science (MEng or equivalent) or Bachelor of Engineering/Science (BEng or equivalent)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
