General Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient General Teaching Assistant to support small classes of SEN pupils in our specialist provision in L36. The role involves working with children who may present challenging behaviours, Autism (ASC), and learning abilities significantly below their chronological age.

This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about supporting vulnerable children to thrive.

The Role
  • Support pupils in small class settings with high staff-to-pupil ratios
  • Work with children with Autism, complex needs, and challenging behaviours
  • Provide emotional, behavioural, and learning support throughout the school day
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Use positive behaviour strategies and de‑escalation techniques
  • Support personal development, communication, and social skills
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working with SEN children (school, care, or youth settings) - desirable
  • Confidence supporting challenging behaviours
  • A calm, patient, and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Relevant TA qualification or training (desirable but not essential)
