About The Role:

Compensation is $16-18 per hour based on experience.

The General Service Technician is a blended role with front and back shop responsibilities, including at least two days per week of front counter duties. This role performs routine vehicle repairs and maintenance per company standards and manufacturer specifications, and communicates vehicle issues and solutions to guests. As a key holder and manager on duty (MOD) when needed, the General Service Technician contributes to a superior guest experience, drives sales of automotive services and tires, and maintains a welcoming in-store atmosphere.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately perform basic vehicle services and repairs in accordance with Monro standards of operation.
  • Tire Services – wheel removal, balancing, patch/plug repairs, changing, mounting, installation and TPMS service.
  • Vehicle Services – lubrications, oil changes, basic maintenance (e.g., bulb, wiper blade, and filter replacements), battery testing and installations.
  • Consistently complete Monro’s Courtesy Inspection on every guest vehicle, identifying, documenting, and communicating additional needed services and repairs.
  • Assist in inventory management, including pulling tires and parts, unloading and stocking inventory.
  • Assist with general store duties to maintain a clean, guest-ready environment.
  • Adhere to Monro safety standards, including Wheel Torque, Oil safety and compliance procedures.
  • Test drive vehicles in accordance with Monro’s Road Test policy and local traffic and safety laws.
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures, governmental standards (environmental codes, ANSI/OSHA). Follow safety standards from training and policies.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through Monro University training and operate/maintain equipment safely.
  • Under management direction, assist with guest care, work orders, register assistance, facility maintenance, and outside purchase ordering. Assist with opening/closing responsibilities as a secondary key carrier. Communicate all Monro products and services effectively to guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Automotive training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a current valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR); ability to operate customer vehicles for test drives.
  • Commitment to owning a basic set of tools or participate in Monro’s tool purchase program.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This job operates in an automotive shop environment with exposure to moderate noise, weather, chemicals, odors, dirt, and dust. The role may require:

  • Flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to see, lift, carry, and stock up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and occasional climbing, squatting, bending, or kneeling.
