The Role

We are recruiting the role of General Healthcare Technician to join our healthcare technical team to assist with the preparation of specialised spaces and equipment for teaching within the School of Life and Health Sciences. This is an exciting time as we expand to provide technical support within occupational therapy, physiotherapy and clinical skills and simulation teaching within the School of Life and Health Sciences.

Key responsibilities will include supporting the team while preparing and setting up equipment and materials for teaching a range of clinical skills and supporting simulated learning. Previous experience of providing technical support in a similar environment is highly desirable. This hands-on role will suit someone with experience of and interest in supporting practical-based subjects in healthcare, such as nursing, allied health, physical therapies, and broader public health and social care.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of clinical procedures, equipment and environments, and of what makes an effective clinical and/or learning environment. Experience in risk assessment, COSHH and hazardous waste disposal is desirable.

The role requires support for the preparation of specialised spaces and equipment for teaching practical sessions, ensuring all equipment is available and functional, and assistance in post session cleaning and waste disposal following guidance and standard operating procedures.

The candidate should have a relevant degree level qualification or experience of working in a clinical or clinical simulation environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and effective clinical and learning environment.
Qualifications and experience
  • Relevant degree-level qualification or experience working in a clinical or clinical simulation environment.
  • Knowledge of clinical procedures, equipment and environments.
  • Experience in risk assessment, COSHH and hazardous waste disposal is desirable.
