About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated GCSE SEN Tutor to provide bespoke 1:1 tuition to students with Special Educational Needs in the HP21 area.

As a GCSE SEN Tutor, you will be responsible for planning and delivering personalised lessons aligned with the GCSE curriculum, adapting your teaching approach to meet individual learning needs. Your work will focus on closing educational gaps, improving engagement, and building confidence in learners who may have experienced barriers to education.

Many of the pupils you will support may have been out of formal education for an extended period and could display low confidence or heightened anxiety around learning. You will play a key role in re‑engaging them, establishing routine, and supporting both academic progress and emotional well being.

Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to monitor each pupil's progress and provide ongoing support to ensure effective and meaningful learning outcomes.

Experience, Training and Qualifications
  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience supporting SEN students, ideally at GCSE level
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience working with children or young people in a UK educational setting
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued within the last year (desirable but not essential)
To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must
  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the child barred list, registered with the online update service, or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Provide two professional, child-related references covering the last two years
