Overview

Job Title: Gas Quality Inspector (Domestic) (SO2)

Location: Enfield

Contract Type: Temp - Perm

Working Hours: 36 hours per week (09:00 - 17:30, Monday to Friday)

Rate:

  • PAYE: £23.99/hour
  • Self-Employed/Umbrella: £29.52/hour
Responsibilities
  • Conduct audits and inspections to validate the quality of domestic gas servicing, repairs, and installations across the housing portfolio.
  • Provide expert technical advice on domestic gas boilers, hot water and heating systems, ground source heat pumps, and related equipment.
  • Support asset investment planning by undertaking surveys and feasibility assessments.
  • Act as Contract Administrator for small project works up to £50,000, under the supervision of the Head of Compliance and M&E.
  • Review Operation & Maintenance (O&M) documentation in collaboration with the Compliance team to ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes are correctly set up and maintained.
  • Support capital programme delivery by ensuring technical standards are met across all gas-related works.
  • Maintain professional gas qualifications and undertake additional training as required to support the Council's statutory landlord responsibilities.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Extensive experience in domestic gas systems inspection, quality control, and compliance.
  • Recognised domestic gas qualifications (e.g., CCN1, CENWAT, etc.) — must be valid and up to date.
  • Strong understanding of heating systems, including renewables (e.g., ground source heat pumps).
  • Experience in managing or auditing compliance programmes within a social housing or public sector setting.
  • Confident in producing technical reports, feasibility studies, and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Knowledge of statutory legislation and industry best practice in domestic gas safety and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with contractors, internal teams, and residents.
Additional Information
  • Candidates must have their own vehicle — mileage will be reimbursed for travel within the borough only (not for commuting).
  • This role supports additional or project work within the Housing & Regeneration team.
  • The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Head of Compliance and M&E, with collaboration across Compliance Delivery and Asset Management teams.
  • Candidates must be able to pass an enhanced DBS check
