What you will do
- Undertake grounds maintenance duties under the guidance of senior staff, ensuring the services are top-notch and meet client expectations while adhering to the Council’s Customer Care and Equal Opportunities Policy.
- Work within recognised safe systems and comply with all health and safety regulations to keep yourself and the community secure.
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance your skills and execute all tasks safely and professionally.
- Blend seamlessly with the Grounds Maintenance Service team, sharing duties and contributing to team success.
- Interact with the public and other service representatives to provide information and answer queries, enhancing community relations.
- Play a role in fostering good employee relations within Environmental Services, contributing to a harmonious work environment.
- Adhere to and apply any necessary legislation, Council Standing Orders, and procedures as needed.
- Assist other teams or adapt to changing workloads as required, showcasing flexibility and commitment.
- Perform any other reasonable duties that fall within your capabilities and experience as organisational needs require.
Requirements
- A minimum of two years’ experience in grounds maintenance, showcasing a solid understanding of horticulture practices.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work regulations, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
- Basic First Aid skills alongside Health & Safety awareness.
- NVQ Level 1 / City & Guilds 1 or equivalent with PA1 and PA6 Pesticide Application Certificates (knapsack).
- A clean driving licence with a category B + E, showing no more than six penalty points.
- Alertness and attention to detail that ensures every task is completed to high standards, come rain or shine.
- Proficiency in using appropriate tools and equipment, and the ability to follow and relay instructions precisely.
