Job description
Overview

NHS England Choices College is a supported internship programme that aims to support young adults with learning difficulties, disabilities, or autism to become employment ready.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver bespoke Maths and English training to interns in a classroom setting.
  • Maintain detailed weekly individual records for each student that meet inspection requirements.
  • Work closely with the Education Quality Assurance Manager to deliver Functional Skills educational outcomes and maintain an employment transition rate for students at above 75%.
  • Contribute to ensuring the programme meets the educational needs of the students and regulatory bodies.
  • Teach at up to 3 different locations across west London and potentially Buckinghamshire depending on the candidate’s location. Willingness to travel is essential.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent and hold a recognised post-16/adult teaching qualification minimum Level 3 (AET/PTTLS/PGCE/).
  • Confident communicator with students who have a range of learning disabilities and recent extensive experience of working with students who have additional educational needs.
  • Experience in delivering SEN provision with differentiated tasks for groups of students and in developing social and emotional skills.
  • Experience in supporting the education of students with SEN on a 1:1 basis in the classroom; strong report writing skills.
  • Training in Systematic Instruction methodologies would be helpful.
  • A passion for supporting students with SEN to meet their full potential is essential.
