Job description

Overview

As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will deliver engaging and effective sessions in English and Maths to learners aged 16 and above. You\'ll support learners to achieve qualifications from Entry Level to Level 2, helping them gain the confidence and knowledge they need to progress in education or employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Functional Skills sessions (English, Maths, and/or ICT)

• Assess learners\' needs and tailor teaching methods accordingly

• Prepare learners for Functional Skills assessments and exams

• Track and report on learner progress using internal systems

• Provide constructive feedback and one-to-one support

• Maintain accurate records in line with company and awarding body requirements

• Work collaboratively with other tutors and support staff to ensure learner success

Requirements

• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training)

• Subject specialism or teaching experience in Functional Skills (Maths, English and/or ICT)

• Experience delivering to a range of learners, including adult learners and apprentices

• Strong understanding of Functional Skills curriculum and assessment standards

• Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to inspire and motivate learners
