Job description
About the role

Are you a paramedic looking for a change from shift work — but still want to use your clinical skills to make a real difference? As a Functional Assessor, you’ll help determine how a person’s disability or health condition affects their daily life. Your assessments inform decisions on benefits such as Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Work Capability Assessments (WCA) for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

You’ll conduct consultations via telephone, video or face-to-face, then produce detailed, evidence-based reports.

This is a hybrid role combining working from home with some on-site assessment‑centre days.

What we’re looking for
  • Registered paramedic with HCPC registration number.
  • At least 1 year of broad post‑registration recent hands‑on experience is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable using IT systems and writing detailed reports.
  • The right to work in the UK (no sponsorship offered).
What is on offer
  • Competitive salary
  • Hybrid working: a mix of home‑based and on‑site days, with no evenings, nights or weekend shifts.
  • A formal training programme and ongoing clinical support to help you succeed in your role.
  • Generous holiday entitlement
  • Opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD), reimbursed validation fees, and career development across a variety of disability and health assessment areas.
