Are you a seasoned mental health pharmacist passionate about enhancing medicines optimisation and clinical pharmacy? Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a compassionate and motivated Senior Pharmacist to join our specialist services at the Prestwich site. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact as a key member of our multidisciplinary team.

Job Summary

As a Senior Pharmacist at the Prestwich site, you will play a crucial role in addressing the pharmaceutical care needs of our service users. Working alongside pharmacy colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will ensure safe and effective medicines management processes. Your responsibilities will include developing innovative practices, integrating seamlessly within the team, and serving as a role model for junior pharmacists and trainees.

You will also have the opportunity to provide line management, act as a mentor, and take on the role of Designated Supervisor for trainee pharmacists. As a senior member of the pharmacy team, you will contribute to broader Trust initiatives, helping shape the future of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pharmaceutical Care Planning & Clinical Review: Develop and implement pharmaceutical care plans, ensuring thorough clinical review of prescriptions.
  • Patient Involvement: Engage service users in decisions about their medicines to optimise treatment, support adherence, and enhance outcomes.
  • Specialist Pharmaceutical Advice: Provide expert advice to the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), supporting them with your specialized knowledge.
  • Non-Medical Prescribing: Develop your role in non-medical prescribing, expanding your scope of practice.
  • Leadership & Supervision: Offer clinical supervision, professional leadership, and line management to team members, fostering their growth and development.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure robust governance arrangements are in place for medicines management, including monitoring prescribing practices and medicines use.
  • Strategic Participation: Attend best practice groups and strategic network meetings, actively contributing to and delivering the Trust’s medicines optimisation strategy.
