About the role

At heycar you will work in cross-functional teams, turning product requirements into solutions that follow best practices and meet our high standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong appreciation for design and interaction, as well as an appreciation for concise, performant code, and thrives on collaboration with business, product and design to get the best solutions for our products.

What you’ll do
  • Collaborate with other engineers and designers to build a product that delivers an empowering user experience
  • Develop a product at pace, using modern frontend technologies
  • Implement highly scalable and maintainable frontend services, working with back-end to create an optimal solution
  • Share technical solutions through design reviews, pair programming and code reviews
What you’ll need
Technical Skills
  • Strong experience building dynamic, responsive, and performant web applications using React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
  • Deep expertise in Next.js (or similar meta-frameworks like Remix, Astro) with a focus on Server-Side Rendering, Static Site Generation, and React Server Components
  • Advanced knowledge of React, including Suspense, concurrent rendering, and modern hooks patterns
  • Experience working with monorepos (NX, Turborepo) for scalable and maintainable codebases
  • Proficient in headless CMS integrations (Kontent.ai, Contentful) and API-driven development
  • Strong understanding of web performance optimisation, SEO, accessibility (a11y), and core web vitals
  • Experience with component-driven development using Storybook or similar tools
  • Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (Jest, Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright), and TDD/BDD practices
  • Strong Git/GitHub/GitLab skills, including branching strategies (Gitflow, trunk-based), code reviews, and collaborative workflows
General Skills
  • Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, OOP, system design)
  • Understanding of scalable infrastructure, cloud platforms (AWS, Vercel, Netlify), and DevOps principles
  • Analytical problem-solving mindset with a focus on performance and user experience
  • Ability to collaborate with designers, product managers, and backend engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a detail-oriented approach
  • Passion for emerging frontend technologies and optimising developer experience
  • Love for logic, problem-solving, and clean, maintainable code
