Our client is a North Yorkshire based electrical installation company, established in 2018. Operating across the UK and Ireland, the company provides a range of electrical services, with a focus on quality, compliance, and client satisfaction.

Job Title: Freelance Estimator/Project Manager
Location: North Yorkshire/Teesside or surrounding areas
Salary: Cost Negotiable
Industry: Construction

Our client is looking for a detail‑oriented Estimator / Project Manager. This dual‑role position is key to ensuring project costs are accurately assessed and remain competitive. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of cost control and project delivery processes. Alongside estimating responsibilities, the role will also involve managing projects through to completion, with work taking place across various locations in the UK. Remote working is available, but travel to project sites will be required as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for various projects based on specifications and drawings.
  • Analyse labour, material, and overhead costs to provide comprehensive estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
  • Review and assess bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitiveness.
  • Monitor project budgets and assist in cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and techniques to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on estimates for internal stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of cost control principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using estimating software and tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information to team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem‑solving skills.
  • A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not essential if experience is relevant.
