Job description

Barts Health is looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Pharmacists to join our pharmacy team. You will be part of our band 6 rotational Foundation Training programme, which is aimed at helping you develop your knowledge and skills within the first 1000 days of practice. You will have the opportunity to deliver care across four sites - Newham University Hospital, St Bartholomew's, The Royal London and Whipps Cross University Hospital in a structured developmental programme and undertake a postgraduate diploma to consolidate your core foundation skills.

Main duties of the job

  • To promote the responsible, safe and cost-effective prescribing of medicines within Barts Health to optimise clinical outcomes, minimise adverse reactions and improve medicines safety. The post holder will be supporting the clinical teams to deliver high quality clinical pharmacy services across the hospital sites.
  • To participate in the delivery of a comprehensive pharmacy service and to provide operational support to the department as agreed in the rotational programme.

Qualifications
  • MPharm Degree in Pharmacy
  • Registered as a pharmacist or imminently awaiting registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Working towards a postgraduate diploma
Experience
  • Clinical experience gained during the pre-registration training period relating to the management of patients
  • Clinical experience gained in a hospital setting
Knowledge
  • Awareness of the current NHS and effects recent changes have had or will have on pharmacy
  • Demonstrable knowledge to undertake clinical screening of prescriptions
