Job description
Overview

Could this be your most meaningful role yet? Become a Lleol Transitions Foster Carer with Foster Wales Flintshire. Rooted in community. Built on relationships. Focused on children.

Have you supported children or young people in education, care, or wellbeing roles? Have you wondered whether you could make that difference from your own home? With Foster Wales Flintshire, you can use the experience you already have to offer stability and belonging to a young person who needs it most. This isn’t just fostering. This is Lleol Transitions Fostering — and it could be the most rewarding thing you’ll ever do.

Lleol means local in Welsh. That local connection is essential for a young person’s identity, sense of belonging, and future. We are the local authority fostering team in Flintshire — not a private agency — so we are fully focused on the children in our area and committed to finding them the right homes in their own communities.

Some young people in and around Flintshire need more than traditional foster care. They may be stepping down from residential care or high-support settings and need time, understanding, and calm, consistent support to adjust to family life. That’s where you come in.

Could you become a Lleol Transitions Foster Carer?

We’re looking for people who have experience — personal or professional — in helping children and young people thrive. You may have worked in schools, care homes, youth work, or healthcare, or you may have walked alongside children through challenging times. If you can provide a nurturing home and offer full-time care, we’ll be with you every step of the way.

What you get

A full package of support that reflects your commitment.

  • £50,000 annual financial support package
  • Up to £258.79 Weekly Fostering Allowance (over £13,453 annually)
  • Additional Allowances for Birthdays, Holidays & Christmas (up to £1,035 annually)
  • Ongoing support and guidance from your local Foster Wales Flintshire team
  • A linked Lleol Support Foster Carer for hands-on, practical help
  • Specialist training and therapeutic learning opportunities
  • Regular peer support groups and wellbeing activities
  • Membership to The Fostering Network & access to the Mockingbird community model (where appropriate)
  • 50% Council Tax discount
  • Membership to the Blue Light Card for nationwide discounts
  • Recognition and rewards through the CareFriends app
Who we’re looking for
  • Have experience supporting children or young people
  • Can offer a stable, nurturing home environment
  • Have a spare bedroom to dedicate to a young person
  • Hold a full driving licence
  • Can commit to caring for a young person full-time
  • Are willing to learn, reflect, and work closely with a professional team
  • Generally, we ask that you don’t have children under 16 living at home, but we’ll always look at each situation individually as part of the overall matching process

Make a lasting difference — right where you live. You’ve already been supporting young people in some way. Now you have the chance to do it in the most personal and lasting way possible — offering family, belonging, and a place to call home.

Foster Wales Flintshire is your local authority fostering team. We’re here for our community, for our children, and for people like you.
