Overview

About Stockport CountyFounded in 1883, Stockport County are one of the country\'s longest established football clubs. Initially formed as Heaton Norris Rovers, the Club officially became Stockport County in 1890 after the County Borough of Stockport and have been based at Edgeley Park since 1902.The team currently competes in Sky Bet League One, the third tier of the English Football League, after winning the 2023-24 Sky Bet League Two title.

Purpose: Plan, deliver and lead all coaching and other enrichment activities for designated Football Education girls\' squad, including training, matches and gym sessions.

Main responsibilities outline the coaching focus for the Football Education - Girls\' Coach role.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead and co-ordinate all football enrichment provision for designated Football Education girls\' squad during timetabled sessions, fixtures and additional opportunities for participation and development.
  2. Plan, deliver and evaluate all coaching sessions in line with the club\'s coaching philosophy. Be responsible for the players\' overall training programme and arrange all fixtures, including preseason. Manage appropriate playing opportunities and match minutes for all eligible players.
  3. Assess the performance of all players and lead analysis sessions with the squad. Set realistic performance targets for each player and support their continued development throughout the season.
  4. Work effectively with the coaching team and wider Football Education staff to ensure all players receive high quality provision that contributes to their overall education study programme and offers them unique experiences and opportunities.
  5. Construct and deliver detailed individual player progress reviews with players and parents/carers.
  6. Play a supporting role in the delivery and facilitation of the \'Sports Career Pathway\' (SCP) enrichment programme. Assist SCP staff with the implementation of a broad range of experiences for SCP students to develop key knowledge, skills and professional expertise in the specific areas, e.g. Coaching, Analysis, Strength & Conditioning.
  7. Be an effective team member and work positively with colleagues to contribute to, develop and enhance Stockport County\'s overall provision for teaching, learning and enrichment. Meet regularly with the \'Lead Football Coach\' and the \'Sports Career Pathway Co-ordinator\' who oversee the different aspects of the enrichment provision.
  8. Promote a positive culture across all aspects of the full Football Education programme to support student/player development and retention rates.
Other Responsibilities
  1. Be committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of young people by ensuring effective implementation of Stockport County Football Education\'s safeguarding policy and procedures. Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Officer.
  2. Follow the Stockport County Football Education health and safety policy in all aspects of work, including a proactive approach to risk-assessment in all duties.
  3. Use systems, policies and procedures accurately to fulfil responsibilities and obligations and to work in line with Stockport County Football Education\'s \'Quality Assurance\' measures.
  4. To undertake additional duties including student supervision, supporting colleagues, attending meetings and involvement in relevant activities and trips where appropriate.
  5. Be prepared to contribute to Stockport County Football Education\'s broad programme of high-level football, education, sports career pathways, work experience and other enrichment activities.
  6. Engage fully in Stockport County\'s appraisal process to fulfil personal potential, maintain best practice and be able to participate effectively in the implementation of Stockport County Football Education\'s \'Quality Improvement Plan\'.
  7. Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Football Education and the Head of Education.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience coaching female players.
  • Professional qualification - Level 2 or UEFA B Licence.
  • Fully licensed FA Coach committed to annual CPD to maintain licence.
  • FA Safeguarding Children Qualification.
  • FA First Aid Qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of football at relevant levels in terms of tactics, fitness and player development in the female game.
  • An understanding of a range of teaching / learning styles to optimise the development of young players and of learning overtime rather than band aid coaching.
  • An understanding of the holistic approach to developing well rounded players and young adults.
  • An understanding and ability to manage and work within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Able to identify, develop and support football talent.
  • Ability to solve tactical problems within a competitive and fast-moving environment.
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to use e-mail, Excel, Word, Routes, and Teamworks.
